Calling All Kids!!!

Join us every Sunday, at 9:00am from Sept - May, for Calvary's Sunday School!!

Our 2023-24 school year kicks off on Sunday, October 1st at 9:00am! (Ages 3yo - 4th grade) Our Sunday School leader, Beth Spahn has alot of fun learning activities planned for this year.

Camp Christbound (Vacation Bible School)

Calvary teams up with Grace Episcopal Church each summer, to bring what we believe to be a high quality of learning and fun for children grades K-5th. Trained staff from Lutheridge camp join us for this joyful week, bringing their gifts of music, teaching, and fun to our community. This is also an opportunity to welcome children from around the community who need a safe  place, a warm meal, and to generally be loved as they learn about Jesus together.

 Other Learning opportunities:

Summer Camp at Novus Way or Camp Agape!

What we offer the children of our congregation

  • Splash! (Birth to 3 years) While we do not currently have a class for this age group, we believe this take-home program helps to provide parents/grandparents/godparents with tools to engage our youngest ones in early faith formation.
  • Godly Play (3yrs – 4th grade) This group is essentially a “pre-youth group” experience for our 3rd-5th grade kids. We try to keep this fairly low-key, but to start their interest in youth type events and activities. There is so much to do and look forward to, why wait until middle school to join the fun?! This class meets September-May in the “green room” on the bottom floor of the building. Through Montessori-based learning, children have the opportunity to engage stories of faith through story-telling, wondering, and play. After the telling of the story, our 3rd-5th graders are invited to another room to wonder together about what they heard, ask questions, and continue learning together
  • Fellowship and Fun — Twice a year (once in the fall and once in the spring) we plan a fellowship event to get this group together outside of Sunday School. These are times when they will have the chance to bond with kids their age at the church, as well as with other adults who often work with our kids.
  • Youth Quake —This annual retreat is hosted by the NC Synod. Join us for a day of worship, music, fellowship, devotions and fun as we explore the seven Faith Practices. It’s simply a day to invite these youth into the youth and family ministry program of our synod. High school and college-age youth volunteer to serve as group leaders.
  • Family Fun Group — This group is for families with children birth to 5th grade to build relationships as we seek to raise our children in a community of faith. We can laugh and cry together, pray and play together — and once our children age out of this group, the goal is to have already built a network for the teenage years as they move into youth group….and beyond!
